Chapter 2- Computers

This chapter is all about computers and how they have changed over time. This chapter would be helpful to someone who did not grow up with a cell phone in their hand, they can learn how computers works. Also, how they have changed over time. It is the digital revolution because people are no longer using books they are downloading them to their computers to read.

The main bullet points in the first part of the chapter are:

Computer hardware- the physical computers and electronic devices used to carry out a specific design and production activities

Computer software- computers program or set of programs that is designed to perform a specific set of task or functions that need to be loaded into the computer’s memory

Operating system software- it is loaded on computer and it runs applications on computer

Application software-installed on computer that’s designed to perform a specific type of work or task

Computers have to be controlled by humans they control the computer by using the mouse and keyboard. The mouse is the cursers that allows you to control what to click. The keyboard is used for typing.

There are several ways to safe files on a computer. Some of these are:

Fixed storage disk- non removable chip or storage drive

Removable storage- can easily move data from one computer with another using this

Optical disk storage- laser beam to read and encode data onto the reflections inner surface of a hard plastic disk. Examples compact disk, DVD, and Blue-ray disk

Flash memory- solid state chip technology used in a variety of digital appliances. Example incluse magnetic storage, Network- attached storage, cloud content and management systems, cloud storage, file sharing, collaboration, and synchronization

You can connect drives and devices to your computer like hard drives and printers you use the USB ports.
